The Foldaway bed is designed to have a single, full-height door attached to the base of the bed. The Foldaway bed has an adjustable sprung mechanism which gives a safe, light and easy lifting action. The leg sits inside the bed when folded away, but when in use the leg is manually folded over the foot-end of the bed and sits on the underside to support the bed when in the down position.

For over 20 years, Hideaway’s beds have all been supplied using spring mechanisms for safety and reliability reasons, whilst other manufacturer’s systems use gas struts fitted to the head-end of the bed. Springs or gas struts are used in order to counter-balance the load of the bed when in the upright position or when moving to or from the down position. Integrated beds are not for DIY assembly. The bed must be assembled and installed into a purpose built cabinet by a competent Carpenter/ Joiner using the appropriate technical specification. Please note: wall bed frames and mechanisms are illustrated with cabinets and doors (purchased separately) for demonstration purposes only.
The Stunning ‘Hideaway Effect’
Integrated wall bed systems are designed to be fitted into purpose built cabinets to create the stunning ‘Hideaway effect’, where you have the appearance of beautifully fitted bedroom which springs out to form a bed in less than 20 seconds.
The patented, enclosed counter-sprung mechanism takes the weight of the bed & mattress. When folded away, the bed & cabinet typically sit only 53cm from the wall, allowing space to work or play. The sprung, slatted mattress base ensures enhanced spinal support and comfort.
